altWelcome - About Us

Realistic Hope began as a vision by Mark Palmer using his 45 year experience as a TBI survivor to help others understand that they were not alone, to create hope and empower everyone touched by a TBI to help others strive to be a little better tomorrow than today.

Realistic Hope started as a model to create an understanding, facilitate communications and empower supporting organizations to make a difference to everyone touched by a TBI at a very difficult if not the most difficult part of the journey. The life ever after part when your care, your needs and your growth are no longer determined by trained professionals.   A life where the survivor, family, friends and caregivers whose life has changed.

Based on reactions to the model, Realistic Hope transitioned into a book in September of 2009. While the quantity for books is small but ever increasing as compared to a best seller, the thanks and input from the readers has been heart warming, inspirational and educational.

The vision for Realistic Hope is no longer Mark’s vision, it is a vision developed and matured with the help and input of many others. Input from all touched, all walks of life and all levels of severity. Today’s vision is a vision of hope.

Today realistic Hope is an online community. A community where we can learn that we are not alone as many individuals are traveling the same path as ourselves. A place where one finds many who have addressed the same issues that we face. A place with a tremendous amount of experiential information exists to help each understand, learn and empower those around them be live a life filled with realistic hope, a hope that tomorrow will be better than today.

Mark is a thought leader in living with the challenges of a TBI.  The challenges of his TBI empowered rather than hindered his attitude towards life.  He encourages each of you to reach out and communicate with those who have and are experiencing the same journey as yourself.
