Friend of TBI Survivor Story #2

Summary - the cause - the injury - today's quality of life?

My husband's best friend, M joined the Army while my husband joined the Airforce. Five years ago, M was deployed to Afghanistan. His convoy encountered an explosion. Preliminary findings were PTSD. He returned for two more tours after psychological evaluation cleared him to be physically and mentally fit

despite bouts of insomnia, anger, and general behavior change. Finally, after two years suffering , an Air Force Doctor, ordered a CT Scan, MRI, and neurological testing. Findings were conclusive-TBI due to the force to explosion although there was no visible wounds at the time of the ecounter. He and his wife moved to Virginia to be able to get the proper care and treatment. M is no longer in the service, receives disability. I wish I could end the story that all is happy and going well. M's wife calls and shares stories about M's mood swings, and his inability to keep a job after the military. However, they are in counseling and taking one day at a time.
